In all cases, SEPRA guarantees the presence of a qualified technician during all critical steps of the process (start-up, definition or modification of operating parameters, cleanings).

SEPRA also makes available a laboratory for analysis to be carried out during tests.

SEPRA has been engaged for more than 25 years in the marketing of membrane elements for crossflow filtration processes. Since this technology is aimed more and more to developing innovative applications requiring pilot test study, SEPRA commits to offer to customers:

LABORATORY
The laboratory pilot plants allow to realize qualitative studies on a large number of membranes.

POLYMERIC MEMBRANE
Our laboratory is equipped with a membrane cell that allows the use of flat membranes from any supplier, by simulating the process of cross filtration through input / output fittings located at opposite ends of the cell.

SEPA-CF model cell also available for sale uses a rectangular sheet of dimensions 190x140 mm, together with a spacer and a "permeate carrier". SEPA-CF is available in two versions, low pressure (10 bar) and high pressure (69 bar); it is fed by a pump sold separately. SEPA-CF is suitable for processing samples of  few liters.

CERAMIC MEMBRANE
The DISRAM INSIDE system allows to simulate the crossflow filtration on a ceramic disc with a diameter of 90 mm.  Fittings for feed and discharge of the concentrat are located on the side where the membrane is deposited. The permeate is collected on the opposite side, corresponding to the macroporous support.

FIELD TESTS
Facilities for experimentation in the field (or on samples of high volume, 30-100 liters, collected in the field) allow to carry on semi-quantitative studies on multiple membranes. Information on the feasibility of a process are obtained through this type of tests and economic assumptions can be made. The results are also often used for the scale-up of small size plants.

POLYMER AND CERAMIC MEMBRANE
MEMBRATEST equipment allows to operate tests on a small scale to check feasibility of separation processes in innovative cross flow filtration (microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration and reverse osmosis), still using the hydraulic configuration of industrial plants.

It features on the same skid one housing for 2"x12" polymeric membrane spiral wound membrane element (0.3-0.4 m2 filtration area) and one housing for ceramic tubular 10x250 mm element (0.01 m2 membrane  filtration area). MEMBRATEST can be used for direct feed  from customer's process or coupled to a separate tank (30-100 l). The mode of operation can be continuous or batch, including the simulation of cleaning cycles.

PRE-PRODUCTION
Pilot plants for continuous production allow to realize quantitative studies on one or two membranes. This way it is possible to obtain detailed information for industrial scale-up of large sized plants.

POLYMERIC MEMBRANE
SEPRA provides pilot plants for pre-industrial tests, that are normally operated for a period of 1-3 months, with polymeric spiral wound membrane elements size 2.5"x40" (2-3 m2  filtration area) and size 4"x40" (5-100 m2 filtration area) and with polymeric tubular membrane elements size 2" (0.5 m2  filtration area).

CERAMIC MEMBRANE
SEPRA provides pilot plants for pre-industrial tests, that are normally operated for a period of 1-3 months, with one, two or seven ceramic membrane elements dimension 25x1200 mm (0.2-4.2 m2  filtration area), fully instrumented.

OTHER TECHNOLOGIES
The use of membranes is often related to that of other technologies for pre or post-treatment. SEPRA therefore proposes a wide range of accessories, such as filters, dispensers, ozone generators, etc. to be tested together with membrane systems.


MEMBRATEST - MULTIFUNCTIONAL SYSTEM FOR THE VERIFICATION OF A MEMBRANE PROCESSES
MEMBRATEST equipment allows to operate tests on a small scale to check feasibility of separation processes in innovative cross flow filtration (microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration and reverse osmosis), still using the hydraulic configuration of industrial plants.

MEMBRATEST is equipped with:

The plant must simply be connected to a process line feeding the liquid to be treated or to a supply tank previously loaded with appropriate quantity of sample liquid (normally 30-100 liters). Separation test will be performed, in batch or in continuous mode, with the possibility to use polymeric or ceramic membrane. The feed tank can also be used for cleaning.
High flexibility in operation allows to check the performance of different types of membrane with limited use of resources (time and material cost). Fully significant results are obtained in regards to the effectiveness of the separation (rejection data); indicative data regarding the permeability, the evolution of fouling and the cleaning mode are also obtained.

In this way, the user can assess the feasibility of a membrane process and make a budget evaluation of operating and investment cost. SEPRA provides a wide range of membrane elements and other accessories (tanks, prefilters, chemicals, etc.).

MATERIALS
The system is manufactured entirely with AISI 316L stainless steel, with the exception of flowmeters and permeate collection tube, made with plastic materials resistant to high temperature and acid / alkaline cleanings. Sanitary construction is available as an option.
